Elfane, meaning Home of the Elves, is the Dragon’s Nest - the headquarters of Oak Dragon. Ros Briagha and Bel Bucca moved from the South-East of England to the remote welsh village of Mynyddcerrig in 1981. Having been High Priestess and High Priest of an Alexandrian Coven around the Windsor Forest for many years they decided to move to the wilds of West Wales to start a centre for Pagan celebrations. Having cast runes and made their spells, asking the Universe to take them to the Home of the Elves, they discovered, at the foot of the Stone Mountain, the land that would become Elfane. The Elfane Complex consists of a Four Acre Woodland and One Acre Field. The field contains, amongst other things, the beautiful ‘Witch’s Cottage’ that is the central hub of Elfane, holding the alchemical kitchen, office and living quarters. |

Down the field from the cottage is the old barn that has recently been converted into a temple and workshop space. The barn is also often used for various other gatherings and celebrations that happen at Elfane. It is a lovely big room, with welsh oak floor, and altars in the four corners marking the four directions. Outside of the temple is a circular fire pit, so people can be outside but still hear the music or other happenings in the barn, only a few feet away. |
Further down the field we come to the microlithic Stone Circle of White Quartz. This is a magical place for moon ceremonies as the Circle of Stone glows in the light of the stars and moon. The Circle is also planted with Holly Oaks and is a place to commemorate those who have passed over. |
The path winds on down the field, punctuated by wild flowers, and a number of trees that have been planted in the field over the last twenty-five years. Hidden amongst the brambles one can see the beds that foxes have made and one is also often greeted by the horses of neighbouring farms peering over the hedgerows. This is a wonderful place to sit and be with nature, overlooking the pond inhabited by those frogs and toads that have managed to escape the jaws of Adders and Grass Snakes that also live in these parts. |
Beyond the pond a small area of woodland has been planted up over the years. This is a very magical spot where one is often sure that Dryads, Nyads, Centaurs, Elves, Fauns and Faeries could be seen at any moment…. the place is full of hidden secret places…entrances into other worlds. |
This small wooded area is home to the oldest and most major of the sacred circles in Elfane, the Ring. The Ring is a Henge that was established in 1981 and is planted with the Trees of the Celtic Calendar. There are small standing stones in the four directions and an earth platform in the centre for having large bonfires on. This has been the site of many magical ceremonies and rites of passage over the years. |
| Further into the wooded area, we are in the process of creating a small stone Labyrinth. This is slowly being built using rocks collected from sacred sites all over Britain. This has included rocks from the area surrounding Stonehenge, the Isle of Lundy, the subterranean caverns of Carreg Cennen and the Stone Circle of Callanish. We have also been reusing limestone rocks that have been used in the sweat lodges that we hold in our four-acre woodland. |
In 1983 Ros Briagha also purchased the four acres of woodland that are a part of Elfane. This became the home of Brian Mongere and his Earth Dragon Project, conceived as one of the first modern experiments in living lightly and magically on the earth in a self-sustainable fashion. Brian later went on to found the Kings Hill Community. |

| The woods are the site of many of our ceremonies and celebrations. It is a beautiful area filled with native trees and wildlife. At the centre is our sweat lodge site where the tribe gathers each half moon to join in that rite. This is a large open grove where we have great fires, drumming circles and fire twirling. |
| Filled with sacred spaces and mythical creatures, spirits of nature and beings of the Faery World, Elfane is a truly magical place. The words and images on this page can hardly convey the energy of this place. We hope that it is not too long before you find your way here and join us in the flight of the Dragon! |
