Magic Hat At the Oak Dragon School, many of our events are funded by ‘Magic Hat’ – this page will hopefully explain a bit about how Magic Hat works and what this funding is used for. The ‘Magic Hat’ is a philosophy that we have adopted from the Rainbow Family. The foundations on which Magic Hat philosophy is built are trust, respect and self-worth. A lot of our Public Events are put on in an attempt to facilitate a feeling of community and help to develop bonds between the people who attend. We believe this is important because if we’re going to change the world we need to be together and support each other as a loving, respectful and cooperative circle. Because these events feel so important to us we don’t want to restrict them to the lucky few that can afford to pay a set price for such events and so we do not charge any entry fee. We do need to have money coming into the Oak Dragon Project though, because we want to be able to expand, reach out to more and more people and put on bigger and better events. There are lots of expenses involved in putting on these events and at the moment they are entirely funded by the people who run the School. For this reason we have adopted the Magic Hat. At all of our Magic Hat funded events we will not ask you for money, but will have the Magic Hat available for you to put donations into of whatever you can afford. Through these donations we hope to see the Oak Dragon fly from strength to strength. Every time the your energy goes into the Magic Hat we come a step closer to realising our dreams for the Oak Dragon School, Community and Tribe. If you can’t afford to put any money into the Magic Hat, you can give your energy in other ways. It’s really important to exchange some kind of energy – if that means putting money into the Magic Hat then that’s great, but there are also lots of other things that you can give to help you feel that you are involved and not just an observer or punter. We are always looking for people to help us put on these events, cook food, help us maintain our land and volunteer in lots of other ways.
